Unbounded

Unbounded is an innovative infinite game that transcends the limitations of traditional finite, hard-coded systems through the use of generative models. Inspired by James P. Carse’s talk about the difference between finite and infinite games, this game uses the latest generative AI technology to create a character life simulation game completely encapsulated by generative models. Unbounded draws inspiration from sandbox life simulations, allowing players to interact with autonomous virtual characters in a virtual world through natural language instructions, including feeding, playing and guiding characters, while open-ended mechanics generated by large language models (LLM), some of which may be emerging. To develop Unbounded, technological innovations in the fields of LLM and visual generation were proposed, including a specialized, distilled large-scale language model for dynamic generation of game mechanics, narrative and character interactions in real time, and a new dynamic regional image prompt adapter (IP-Adapter) for ensuring consistent but flexible visual generation of characters in multiple environments.
